Clinical Pipeline for Targeted Radiation Therapy
I moved to MSU in 2017 to join the new Institute of Quantitative Health Science and Engineering (IQ) and Departments in three colleges, after spending 22 years at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I plan to offer a brief history of my experiences with clinical translation of imaging and therapeutic agents for cancer, and the rationale for targeted radiation therapy. I will provide an update on the new cGMP-compliant radiopharmacy and the MSU Center of Excellence in Imaging and Image-guided Therapies. Future efforts will use radionuclides that are harvested from MSU’s Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB), a 700+ million-dollar center funded by the Department of Energy. I will discuss my research pipeline for phase I clinical trials and interest in combining radiation therapy with immunotherapy for cancer treatment.
