Drug Discovery Seminar - Gerald Zamponi, PhD

Molecular Physiology Of Pain – From Calcium Channels To Brain Circuits

I will discuss the role of Cav3.2 calcium channels in afferent pain signaling, and how these channels are dysregulated by deubiquitination during chronic pain states. I will then speak about brain circuits that are involved in the sensory and affective components of neuropathic pain, and the consequences of their optogenetic manipulation.
