Testing anti-infective therapeutics in animal models requires specialized laboratories with highly skilled researchers familiar with each organism and endpoint. The In Vivo Facility combines the expertise of industry trained scientists, a world class research facility, and access to leading academic research scientists in the field of microbiology. We are able to assist all related sectors of the industry in the development of anti-infective therapeutics. Our scientists have successfully validated difficult model systems and have the ability to tailor models and services to accommodate individual client needs. This includes work with bacterial, fungal, and parasitic pathogens in a variety of models. Viral models are currently under development. We have the ability to conduct BSL-2 studies with the potential for BSL-3.


The In Vivo Facility offers efficacy testing of therapeutics in mouse models of breast, pancreatic, and lung cancers, as well as in xenograft models. The IVIS Imaging System can be utilized on studies when bioluminescently labeled tumor cells are available. This advanced 3D optical imaging system is designed to improve quantitative outcomes of in vivo imaging and facilitates non-invasive longitudinal monitoring of disease progression.


Some of our gastrointestinal evaluations include Transit Time/Emptying Time/Absorption, GI Tract Nerve Muscle Preparations, peristalsis with spatiotemporal analysis of muscle movements, and visceral sensation using electromyographic measurements to colorectal distention.


We provide ischemic and ischemia-reperfusion stroke models, rodent locomotor evaluations, and state-of-the art imaging capabilities.


The In Vivo Facility has expertise in pulmonary hypertension models. We also offer assessments of respiratory rate and minute volume, capnography, and exercise-induced effects, including treadmill evaluations in large animals.


We offer a variety of renal evaluations, including efficacy screening in renal failure models. We can assess GFR, fluid and electrolyte balance, clearance, and perform metabolic cage measurements.
